The problem

Good water at the source doesn't automatically mean safe water at the nipple or drinking trough.

In practice, drinking water is often contaminated along the way by biofilm in the pipe network. This biofilm forms a persistent reservoir of pathogens. Moreover, biofilm can reduce the effectiveness of administered medication and increase the risk of blocked nipples.

Cleaning between rounds is not always possible and is often insufficient to keep the entire pipe network sustainably clean. During the round, classic agents such as chlorine or hydrogen peroxide are often insufficient to maintain biofilm structurally under control at low drinking water dosing levels (PT5 applications).

During the round, Konax continuously disinfects the drinking water, just before or upon entry into the barn, with approved PT5 products based on chlorine dioxide such as Diox Forte, Farnax® Plus-S and Easydis 2000.
