The customer's initial request was to carry out a disinfection of the emergency showers to prevent Legionella. Secondly, a continuous disinfection for the process water was started.

This petrochemical company produces methylcellulose. This chemical compound finds its applications in construction, food and personal care.
To comply with the legal requirements, this company has a number of emergency showers. These emergency showers are barely used, which means that a lot of stagnant water is present. A low flow rate combined with the higher temperature of the shower water increases the risk of contamination with Legionella pneumophila.
Konax was asked here to carry out a shock disinfection to both kill the germs present and completely remove the biofilm on the inside of the pipe system. Thanks to this thorough approach, the company can now guarantee safe showers for its employees.
Due to the effectiveness of our solution in this first collaboration, Konax was also asked to tackle the Pseudomonas problem in the process water. Pseudomonas is a water-loving bacterium that thrives very well in biofilm, i.e. if Pseudomonas is found, biofilm is always present. Pseudomonas and biofilm are difficult to remove in long pipe systems.
As a solution, the fully automatic Konax® Easydis was chosen for the continuous treatment of 30,000 L of process water per hour. All relevant data regarding water consumption and dosing is forwarded via a modem to our Konax IoT platform, so that close monitoring is guaranteed and both active and proactive action can be taken.
