McBride is a producer of hygiene products for household and professional use.
At the facility in Ypres, 9 different water streams are treated with Konax®-Prodis installations.

Choosing guaranteed reliability in water disinfection
McBride in Ypres, a manufacturer of household and professional cleaning products, has always recognized the importance of microbiologically safe water. Previously, chlorine was used for water treatment.
A few years ago, the company switched to Diox Forte (a water disinfection product based on chlorine dioxide) for two important reasons. Firstly, chlorine alone was not effective enough to control the biofilm in the pipes. Secondly, the long-term use of chlorine was too damaging to the pipes and stainless steel production equipment.
The switch to Diox Forte from Konax was implemented in nine different circuits. The treated water is used for various purposes, such as disinfecting production water and as a disinfection step after CIP cleaning of tanks and pipes. The nine circuits were treated from multiple dosing stations, which required intensive monitoring to replenish the stock of Diox Forte in time.
At the beginning of 2023, Davy Breyne, mixing manager, decided to replace the dosing stations with three Konax-Prodis units. These units automate the production of the disinfectant from concentrated raw materials, which requires fewer manual interventions. A feature of the Konax-Prodis systems is the continuous online monitoring (via digital twins). Thanks to this real-time monitoring, supported by functional alarms, the effectiveness of the treatment is assured and the customer is completely unburdened.
“This complete automation of the water disinfection mainly improves the safety of the operators and the reliability of the disinfection. An additional advantage is that the disinfection of the various circuits can be monitored precisely via the monitoring platform iot.konax.com.”— Davy Breyne← Back to all references
