At this producer, cheese, milk powder and mozzarella are made. Being able to rely on a stable disinfection process, independent of the fluctuating water streams, is a paramount part of their production process.

This production facility was looking for a perfectly reliable dosing system to optimize the use of a disinfectant based on active chlorine dioxide (ClO2).
The classic ClO2 generators have too many shortcomings (many by-products, longer start-up times, unstable dosing, ...) and no longer met the customer's requirements.
At this site, the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water is stored in large tanks, from which it is sent to production.
The residence time in the storage tanks varies greatly, which causes variable germ growth. Due to this unpredictable growth, there is a need for a well-designed dosing technique that flexibly adapts to the situation.
The original installation often had problems with under- or overdosing, with all the consequences that entails.
We opted for 2 independent PID controls: a redox sensor for the tank and a ClO2 sensor after the tank. In this way, if necessary, dosing and adjustment can be done very quickly and accurately.
This complete installation was placed in a specially built container. It is set up outside and is equipped with continuous temperature control and adapted aeration. This installation has been working continuously for several years with the best results.
As a result of this collaboration, the customer saw his chemical consumption decrease considerably and his microbiological results stabilise and improve. The monitoring is done by means of a modem that forwards all information to the quality department and to Konax®. The producer does the microbiological monitoring internally.
