Treatment of process water in a food company

Application

In this company, the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water from the concentration of the whey is stored at a rate of 15m³ per hour in a first water tank.

This water is pumped over to a second tank where it is mixed with 60% city water. This solution is used as cleaning water.

Treatment of process water in a food company

Konax was brought in because the microbial results in the water, after treatment with a classic generator, were highly inconsistent.

To microbially reset the entire system, a shock disinfection was first carried out with a mobile disinfection unit. Thanks to this shock disinfection on the entire water pipe network, we saw a temporary improvement.

After the start-up with their own classic generator, the results deteriorated again.

To solve the matter thoroughly, an analysis was now made and the critical points were defined. Simple dosing systems with a continuous injection of Diox Forte were placed at these critical points.

The adapted dosing at the various points turned out to be the solution to guarantee the water quality across the entire site.

After a trial period, in which this approach proved its effectiveness, a Konax® Prodis was installed. The main advantages of the Konax Prodis are that the products are made fully automatically (no manual mixing of the Diox Forte) and that more accurate dosing is possible at each critical point separately.

By injecting on the various circuits, low dosing is possible with the guarantee that sufficient active disinfectant is present everywhere. The dosing is thus adjusted according to local demand, resulting in higher efficiency and lower total chemical consumption.

This makes this system a lot more cost-effective than the classic generators.
